Empresa Portuaria Chacabuco was created by Chilean Law N. 19.542, published in the country’s official newspaper on December 19th 1997. Our company’s legal regime is determined by this law, which regulates its attributions, rights and obligations.
Our firm began its activities on September 1st 1998, when the Executive Decree that designated its first Board was published.
A public-law juristic person, EMPORCHA is a company belonging to the State, that administers its own assets and of permanent existence. Its legal relation with the Government is carried out through the Ministerio de Transportes y Telecomunicaciones (Transport and Telecommunications Secretariat). Our firm is among those supervised by the Sistema de Empresas Públicas SEP (System of State Companies).
Its corporate purpose is the administration, exploitation, development and maintenance of ports and terminals under its supervision, as well as the assets belonging to the company, including all connected activities that are inherent to port business, which are essential to fulfill our goal. In this way, EMPORCHA is enabled to follow any kind of studies, projects and construction works, including extensions, improvements, maintenance, repair and drainage of ports and terminals.
Our company can develop its line of business by itself or including private sector firms by means of franchises, leasings and partnerships.
The ports and terminals it runs are of public use and provide continuous and permanent services.
